Can a single person change YOU?
When you meet a new person from online dating apps, you have some clear perceptions in the mind of how the date or the day would go. You have some expectations from the person and the situation. You hope the date will result in meeting someone who will be "the one". The person will be just the right amount of cute, right amount of kind and the right amount of afectionate. And most of the times these expectations break. Shatter like a glass.
And suddenly when that person arrives and you see them for the first time, it hits you differently. You see that person with the eyes of your experience. Your experience of shattered expectations and simple beauty. You see the person in new light of mortified expression. Flushed with giddiness.
You both sit down on bed, with steaming hot tea in the night, coiled under the bed sheets with clear expectations. And suddenly this turns into long beautiful conversations that you realise were void for so long. Such beautiful conversations, eyes locked into each other while still pulling out experiences and combining with why we are how we are today. Cups after cups of tea to tell each other everything in those very few hours of the night about where we want to go in life.
Such clear expectations, of having nothing but other’s time to soak every bit of light that comes out to fill your life that had gaps and holes everywhere. Having to hold each other’s hand in simple admiration of how the person is, is one of the most satisfying experiences.
To put yourself in a state of vulnerability is the biggest fear of all. And to say how you feel is more difficult. Only when the person allows you to be devoid of judgments and hurt and fear of losing, can you speak the only truth of mind.
For so long, you’ve met people who shut themselves from accepting love and you learn that is how love is. That is how admiration is. And suddenly you stop expressing what is sitting at the back of the spoken words. The felt words. And when a single person allows you to express, you are free again.
